Surgical Procedures Pre-Transport - First Four Hours


Circumferential deep 2nd or 3rd degree burns require escharotomies if nerve or circulatory supply is compromised by edema.

It is imperative that the escharotomy incisions are carried proximally and distally into uninvolved tissue, as well as into the subcutaneous fat, to ensure adequate decompression and prevent, or relieve, compartment syndrome.
